Kihei is only a 20-minute drive from the airport and borders the ocean, so most of the homes in the area are near to and/or have views of the ocean. Kihei is one of the sunniest areas on Maui which means just about every day is a beach day in Kihei!

There are great beaches all along Kihei’s coast including the Kamaole Beach Parks, Keawakapu and more that residents and visitors alike take full advantage of for walks, picnics, swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, diving, surfing and boogie boarding.

Kihei also boasts Maui Nui Golf Course, an 18-hole, par 71 golf course that wanders through the foothills of Haleakala, providing subtle elevation changes as well as views of the ocean.

Kihei real estate is fairly diverse, ranging from starter homes to multi-million dollar beachfront estates and everything in between! The variety of condominiums and homes, Kihei’s sunny climate, and the breadth of activities make Kihei real estate a popular choice for those looking to move permanently to Maui, looking for a vacation rental investment or becoming second home owners.

Wailea is synonymous with luxury. The Wailea and Makena area offers spectacular resort living with beautiful beaches, challenging golf courses, fine dining and first class shopping.

Wailea and Makena are on the southwest side of Haleakala volcano, which blocks most of the weather, making the area one of the sunniest areas on Maui year round. There are numerous small beautiful beaches, as well as the beautiful expanse of Makena Beach also known as Big Beach. Be sure to check out the list of beaches and parks below.

For the golfer in the family, the Wailea Golf Resort is rated among the best golf courses in the country by both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest for the quality of its championship Gold, Emerald and Blue courses which boast breathtaking ocean views from every hole and is the recipient of dozens of prestigious awards.

The Wailea real estate market includes some of the most beautiful homes and condos on the island which are considered by many to be the most desirable real estate on Maui. All the neighborhoods in Wailea are gated with the exception of the beachfront homes off South Kihei road which have direct beachfront access to Keawakapu beach.

Kamaole Beach Park is divided into 3 sections, divided by rocky areas with Kamaole 1 being the northernmost and largest of the beaches. Kamaole II is the smallest of the beaches but during swells draws surfers and bodysurfers to this beach. Kamaole III is also known as Iliiliholo which translates to “running pebbles” where during various times of the day, the sand is sucked out to sea exposing shingle-like pebbles and when the water flows over these pebbles it creates a unique rumbling sound. Perhaps the most popular of the three beaches, Kamaole III has a wide sand beach perfect for sunbathing or picnicking by the sea featuring a large grassy area with BBQ pits and picnic areas as well as a playground area for the keiki (children). There are no lifeguards at any of the Kamaole beaches but there are restrooms, showers, changing areas, picnic tables, and parking lots.

Kalama Park – in addition to beach access, the 36-acre park is home to a variety of athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, inline skating rink, performance gazebo, picnic pavilions and restrooms. Recent renovations to the park have added a skateboard park, multipurpose field, a playground and extended the areas for recreation and picnicking with ample parking.

Makena Beach State Park (Big Beach) – one of the largest beaches with golden sands, picnic facilities and restrooms.

Additional beaches include Keawakapu Beach, Oneuli Beach, Waipuilani Park, Mokapu Beach Park, Poolenalena Park and Wailea Beach.

The Shops at Wailea – Home to more than 70 distinct boutiques, shops, restaurants and galleries, open daily from 9:30am to 9pm. Shops include Gucci, Tiffany & Co., Swarovski, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Tommy Bahama and more.

Kalama Village offers a little bit of something for everyone with a variety of souvenir vendors, art galleries, a tattoo studio, Local Boy Shave Ice, and specialty boutiques like Mahina and the Love Shack.
